Questions and answers

What does Canfield Systems do?

Canfield Systems designs, installs, and services low-voltage communication systems — nurse call, intercom and paging, synchronized clocks, telephony, sound and public address, access control, and video surveillance — for schools and healthcare facilities across Maine and New Hampshire. The company has operated from Scarborough, Maine since 1942.

What areas do you serve?

We serve schools, healthcare facilities, and commercial buildings throughout Maine and New Hampshire, from our office at 89 Mussey Road, Scarborough, ME 04074.

Do you handle new construction or existing buildings?

Both. We design total communication systems for new construction, and we retrofit or expand systems in existing facilities — choosing the best product for each job and custom-programming everything to interoperate as one unified system.

What happens if a hospital system fails after hours?

Call 207.883.4110 — emergency hospital service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. After-hours emergencies must be phoned in; email is not monitored outside business hours (Monday–Friday, 8am–4pm).

What brands do you install and service?

We work with NEC telephone systems, CENTEGIX CrisisAlert, CareHawk life-safety communication platforms, Sapling synchronized clocks, Versus flow tracking, JNL wander management, and professional audio from TOA, Biamp, Electro-Voice, Atlas IED, and others.

What does the free consultation include?

A conversation about your building and what you need — new construction, retrofit, or expansion — followed by our recommendation and a quote. No pressure, no obligation. Call 207.883.4110 or email Canfield@canfieldsystems.com.

Do you service systems after you install them?

Yes — we service all the systems we sell. Design, installation, programming, and ongoing service come from the same company. Business-hours issues go through a service ticket; hospital emergencies are handled 24/7 by phone at 207.883.4110.

Can new equipment integrate with our existing infrastructure?

Usually, yes — interoperability is our core discipline. We design for retrofit and expansion, choose products that work with what you own, and custom-program the pieces to behave as one system, so you can modernize in phases instead of replacing everything at once.

Can we see the systems working before we buy?

Yes. We built an operational demo kit that shows first-hand how intercom, clock, paging, and telephone systems integrate to interoperate as one unified system. Email Canfield@canfieldsystems.com to schedule a demo with Scott Whitaker.

What does “low-voltage” cover?

The systems a building communicates with: intercom and paging, nurse call, synchronized clocks, telephony, sound and public address, sound masking, access control, video surveillance, life-safety alerting, and the tele-data cabling underneath them.
