Systems integration

One building. One system. That’s the job.

Most facilities accumulate systems one purchase at a time — a bell system here, a paging amplifier there, cameras from whoever answered the phone. Canfield’s work is making them behave like one system: the best product for each job, custom-programmed to interoperate.

Clocks that follow the bell schedule. Paging that reaches the athletic fields. Alerts that trigger strobes, intercom announcements, and screen takeovers together.

About Canfield

Eighty-four years of dial tones, bells, and pages.

Canfield Systems has been in business since 1942, specializing in low-voltage solutions for audio, health care, intercom/clock, telephone, and correctional systems. The name has been synonymous with high-quality, long-lasting, purpose-built systems in Maine and New Hampshire for over 80 years.

Interoperability is the key to a successful communication system. We remain committed to one thing: expert design and implementation of a total communication solution — whether you’re breaking ground, retrofitting, or expanding.

Intercom and paging equipment

See it working first. We built an operational demo kit that shows, first-hand, how these systems integrate to interoperate as one unified system. Email Scott Whitaker to schedule a demo.

Common questions

Answers before you even ask.

What does Canfield Systems do?

Canfield Systems designs, installs, and services low-voltage communication systems — nurse call, intercom and paging, synchronized clocks, telephony, sound and public address, access control, and video surveillance — for schools and healthcare facilities across Maine and New Hampshire. The company has operated from Scarborough, Maine since 1942.

What areas do you serve?

We serve schools, healthcare facilities, and commercial buildings throughout Maine and New Hampshire, from our office at 89 Mussey Road, Scarborough, ME 04074.

Do you handle new construction or existing buildings?

Both. We design total communication systems for new construction, and we retrofit or expand systems in existing facilities — choosing the best product for each job and custom-programming everything to interoperate as one unified system.

What happens if a hospital system fails after hours?

Call 207.883.4110 — emergency hospital service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. After-hours emergencies must be phoned in; email is not monitored outside business hours (Monday–Friday, 8am–4pm).

What brands do you install and service?

We work with NEC telephone systems, CENTEGIX CrisisAlert, CareHawk life-safety communication platforms, Sapling synchronized clocks, Versus flow tracking, JNL wander management, and professional audio from TOA, Biamp, Electro-Voice, Atlas IED, and others.

What does the free consultation include?

A conversation about your building and what you need — new construction, retrofit, or expansion — followed by our recommendation and a quote. No pressure, no obligation. Call 207.883.4110 or email Canfield@canfieldsystems.com.
