History
The name Canfield Systems has been synonymous with high-quality, long-lasting, purpose-built systems in Maine and New Hampshire for over eighty years. The company the region knows today grew out of one trade, practiced well, for a very long time.
-
1942
It starts with sound.
Canfield Systems opens for business, providing long-lasting, highly intelligible sound solutions to customers across Maine and New Hampshire. Sound is the founding craft — and it has never left the catalog.
-
The decades after
From speakers to systems.
The buildings Canfield served needed more than audio, and the company grew with them — into intercom and clock systems, telephone, health care communications, and correctional systems. The low-voltage trades became one practice under one roof.
-
The digital turn
Everything gets a network.
Analog paging became IP paging; clocks synchronized over networks; telephony converged with data; cameras and access control went digital. Canfield’s answer was the discipline it still leads with today: interoperability — the best product for each job, custom-programmed to work as one system.

Today
Same trade. Same region. Same phone number habits.
From 89 Mussey Road in Scarborough, an eight-person team designs, installs, programs, and services communication systems for schools, hospitals, and facilities across Maine and New Hampshire — with a person answering hospital emergencies 24/7.

Approach
Interoperability is the key to a successful communication system. We don’t push one manufacturer’s catalog — we choose the best product for each job, then custom-program everything to work as one unified system. New construction, retrofit, or expansion: the design accounts for what you own today and what you’ll need next.
And we service what we sell. Design, installation, programming, and support come from the same company — the same people, year after year.
Service area
We serve schools, healthcare facilities, and commercial, government, worship, and venue buildings throughout Maine and New Hampshire, from our office at 89 Mussey Road, Scarborough.
See it working first. Our operational demo kit shows how these systems integrate to interoperate as one unified system. Email Scott Whitaker to schedule a demo.
The team
Real people, on the other end of the line.
Call us and you’ll talk to someone who has stood in a school hallway or hospital wing figuring out exactly this problem.
